Wins batting first for Fleetwood and Kendal and a win for Darwen batting second gave all four sides a boost as they chase to catch leaders Morecambe who won once again.
Morecambe successfully chased the St Annes' total of 197-7 and won by four wickets with 198-6 with four balls of the game remaining. For St Annes Joe Davies made a top score of 58 not out while Gareth Evans contributed 42 and Duncan Whalley 41. For Morecambe Jono Gates took 3-27 and then skipper Mark Lomas made 60 as Michael Baer took 4-71 in a losing cause. But it was Gareth Peddar who changed the game as Morecambe required around 10 per over from the final four overs. He hit four sixes and a four in 12 balls to make 29 that made the job easy for Tommy Clough and Stuart Errington as they both finished with one not out.
Darwen leapfrogged Netherfield to go into second place after their comprehensive victory over Preston who were bowled out for 125 with Bilal Asad making a top score of 29, Pip McDonald and Sajid Patel 27 each and Ben Harrison 21 while Andrew Mercer took 6-21. Darwen cruised in by eight wickets with 126-2 with deputy professional Ruvin Peiris, who earlier took 2-18, making 59 not out and Gareth Cordingley 22 not out.
Fleetwood made 185-8 on the back of a fine 74 by Michael Clinning, 26 by Mohammad Faroukh and 25 not out by Tom Wilson and then bowled Leyland out for 124 to win by 61 runs. Fleetwood coach Pat King got a late call into the side after Steve Hill had to cry off due to work commitments. King struck with his first ball in the first division since 2000 when he had Sean Dunk caught behind the wicket by James Ellis and finished, a little tired, with figures of 1-13 from five tidy overs. Only Adam Parker with 33, James Wright with 32 and David Fisher with 23 made much impression for Leyland as Tom Blundell took 4-48, Dave Fish 3-23 and Faroukh 2-13.
Kendal picked up their 15 points at Shap Road courtesy of a 45-run victory over Chorley who made a brave effort to chase the home side's 239-6 by making 194. Michael Raikes made his best yet first division score of 73 not out for Kendal, Kevin Howarth made 59 and Kabir Khan 51. Stephen John was the only Chorley batsman to make much headway against the Kendal bowling as he made 87 and it was only 15 from number 10 Sam Sweeney and 21 from number 11 Bill Smith that took Chorley to within 45 runs as Kevin Howarth took 3-23, Dilwar Khan 2-43 and Chris Miller 2-54.
Netherfield lost some ground by only managing to draw with Barrow at Parkside and that after scoring a massive 251-6 to with Simon Little making a superb 120 and the in-form Pierre de Bruyn chipping in with 58. But then they could not dismiss Barrow who finished on 208-4 to which Jonathan Miles contributed 76 and Ahmed Amla, who had earlier taken 2-93, 74 not out.
Leyland Motors beat Carnforth by 20 runs after they had made 207 with Ameer Khan making 56 and Peter Cummings 52 while substitute professional Nishit Shetty took 4-66. They then bowled the strong batting line-up of Carnforth out for 187 with Shetty top scoring with 71 and Lyndell Richardson making 28 as David Makinson took 6-57, Iqbal Liley 2-32 from 12 overs and Khan 2-81 from 11 overs.
Finally Blackpool and Lancaster drew at Stanley Park where Blackpool made 240-7 with Michael Moore making 82 not out and Justin Kreusch 82. Lancaster made a good game of it but in the end had to settle for the draw with 229-6 with Michael Stevens making a top score of 75, Jannisar Khan making 58 and Tim Barry 55.

Congratulations to Gulam Maje of Morecambe who in making 54 against St Annes broke his own Morecambe second division batting aggregate record of 739 runs that was set last season. He now has 766 runs this season.
Ian Oakes, 134, and Wes Royle, 112, both made centuries but neither of them were on the winning side. Oakes' Chorley lost a high-scoring game to Kendal having declared on 222-4 and although Kendal lost nine wickets, they did reach their target at 225-9, a magnificent effort. Royle's Leyland Motors made 239 but then could not bowl out Carnforth who held on for the draw at 143-9.
Lancaster's Alex Gledhill produced the day's best bowling figures of 5-44 as Blackpool were restricted to 110-9 and then lost as Lancaster won by nine wickets with 111-1 and Carnforth's Richard Forsythe also took five wickets, 5-87 in the draw with Motors.

MATCH ACTION:
LANCASTER'S BRAVE EFFORT
Blackpool 240-7, Lancaster 229-6
By Gerry Wolstenholme
In a high scoring game at Stanley Park Lancaster just failed to overhaul Blackpool's 240-7 and had to settle for a draw with 229-6, despite some late heroics by skipper Tim Barry.
Lancaster won the toss and put Blackpool in to bat and they had an early reward when Robin Bracewell, six, was caught at slip by Ian Parkinson off the bowling of Liam Moffat. The in-form Justin Kreusch then joined Dave Newton who was going sedately along while the South African professional kept the scoreboard moving. The pair put on 80 runs in 70 minutes with Newton accelerating towards the close of his innings that came to an end when he struck Iain Burstow to short mid-wicket where Parkinson dived to take a good catch. Newton had gone for 36 made from 73 balls in 90 minutes with three fours and Blackpool were 91-2.
They were very quickly 93-3 when Burstow trapped Luis Reece leg before wicket before he had scored but then followed a stand of 54 between Kreusch and Michael Moore, which ended when Khan returned to bowl the former for a fine 82 made from 93 balls with 10 fours struck all around the ground. Blackpool were then 147-4 before Moore and skipper Paul Danson out on a quick 47. Danson, who had made 14 of them, was then dismissed when Burstow bowled him.
Moore continued to do the majority of the scoring with some exciting shots but he lost Michael Taylor, one, when Moffatt caught him off Jannisar Khan at 223-6 and Prash Aga, nought, when Khan had him leg before wicket at 237-7. there was just time for David Baker to make one not out and Moore finished with a superb 82 not out from 84 balls with four fours and three sixes, one a superb pull of Khan into the ladies pavilion. Blackpool finished at 240-7 with Burstow taking 3-85, Khan 3-74 and Moffatt 1-25.
Lancaster got off to a speedy reply and had rattled up 32 when Jamie Heywood, 18, drove Taylor to Aga at mid-on. Michael Stevens and Khan then put on 100 at a run-a-minute before the Danson bowled the professional for 58 made from 58 balls with six fours. Stevens and Barry took the total to 180 at which point the odds slightly favoured Lancaster as Danson rotated his bowlers in an attempt to stem the scoring. It paid off when Taylor bowled Stevens for 75 made from 137 balls with five fours and that was 180-3.
Barry and Parkinson tried to keep Lancaster on course but Danson placed his field expertly and the batsmen found it difficult to keep up with the rate, particularly as boundaries were not coming as often as were required. Parkinson, nine, perished in the chase for runs when Bracewell at deep mid-wicket took a diving catch off Taylor and that was 218-4. Barry had done his utmost to keep his side in with a chance of victory but when he had made 55 from 64 balls with three fours and one sweetly struck six Taylor bowled him as he too perished in the late run chase. Kreusch bowled Burstow for one at 223-6 and it was left to David Heywood, two not out, and Brendan Hetherington, three not out, to preserve the draw for Lancaster who closed on 229-6.
