MORECAMBE AND DARWEN WIN
Unfortunately Gerry Wolstenholme was away again this Saturday
and so once again I will attempt to give a summary of the days games.
Both Morecambe and Darwen had 15 point wins to open a gap at the top, with newcomers Carnforth and last season's champions St Annes leading
the pack
At Braodwater leaders Morecambe took on Fleetwood, Morecambe batted first and were all out for 142 in 49.3 overs. Garnett Kruger was top scorer with 42 followd by Tommy Clough with 31. Fleetwoods Paul Harris had the figures of 24.3 overs 10 maidens 40 runs and 6 wickets.
In reply Fleetwood were bowled out for 125, Zac Taylor with 34 and Wayne Clarke 10 and Adam Shorrocks 11 the only other batsman to reach double figures. The leading wicket takers for Morecambe were Graham Lee 4-25 , Garnett Kruger 3-26 and Jono Gates with 2-32
Darwen were put in to bat at Parkside Road by Netherfield and amassed the large total of 294 for 5, Darwen's Atif Ashraf making 114, supported by Keth Semple 80 and 40 no from Gareth Cordingley. When Netherfield battered they were all out for 148 Craig Walmsley 32 being their top scorer. The wickets were shared amongst the Darwen bowlers 4 wickets for Andrew Cook and two each for Andrew Mercer and Neil Cordingley
Carnforth easily overcame Leyland and Farington at Fox Lane. Leyland and Farington chose to bat and were bowled out for 120, Steven Pallett 27 and Adam Parker were their leading run makers. Carnforth knocked off the necessary runs for the loss of only 1 wicket, Omari Banks 61 no and Ryan Nelson 53 no
Chorley lost to visitors St Annes by 6 wickets They were put in to bat and scored 128 all out in the 50th over. Mark Richardson 45 was their top scorer. and the wicket takers for the visitors being Michael Bear 4-26 Stephen Twist 3-39 and Adam Griffith 2-11 in his last game for St Annes before joining Leicestershire CCC next week. Adrian Darlington for St Annes made 57 in their total of 129 for 4
At Stanley Park Leyland Motors continue to move up the table with another win, this time at the expense of Blackpool. Blackpool were invited to bat and only scored 127 for 9 in their 50 overs, Charles Boucher 43 , Michael Taylor 26 and Luis Reece 11 the only batsmen to reach double figures. Motors Ameer Khan 4-39, David Makinson 3-39 Iqbal Liley 2-17 doing the damage. Karl Cross 70 no and Wes Royle 30 lead the reply for a 7 wicket victory
Kendal entertained Barrow at Shap Road and elected to bat making 197 in their allotted overs, Terry Hunte in his last season at Kendal making 84, Ray Mowat of Barrow taking 7 wickets for 48 off 18 overs. In Barrow's reply of 142 Iain Kermode 56 and Ahmed Amla 46 top scored for Barrow and Kendal captain Kabir Khan
had 6-61
Lancaster beat visitors Preston by 5 wickets, Preston were put in to bat and made 171 Bila Asad making 48, Tim Barry taking 3 wickets and Graham Barnes , Jannisar Khan and Alex Gledhill each taking two. For Lancaster Jannisar Khan 50, David Heywood 36 no and Luke Phillips 24 were Lancasters main run makers.

Second Division
It is close at the top of Division 2 eight points cover the top four teams.
Leaders Netherfleld were held to a winning draw at Darwen, James Goldstein making 86 for the visitors and Simon Cooper 55 not out for Darwen.
Morecambe gained ground by defeating last weeks 2nd in the league Fleetwood by 6 wickets, Ben Akrigg scoring 67 for the victors.
Lancaster had an easy 9 wicket win over Preston.
St Annes bowled out Chorley after making 224 for 6 off 50 overs and then David Bartholomew's 6-22 destroyed the visitors who made 172 with Ian Oakes scoring 63.
Blackpool beat Leyland Motors, Motors 161/9, fifties for Vincent Jones 53 and Chris Dovey 52 and for Blackpool 163/4 Robin Bracewell was 84 undefeated.
Barrow 210/8 Callum Livingstone 77 beat Kendal 119.
Carnforth beat Leyland & Farington by 3 wickets, Neil Dugdale 69 for Carnforth and Mick Brown 6-73 for Leyland & Farington.
