MORECAMBE INCREASE LEAD
AS DARWEN AND NETHERFIELD FALTER

Unfortunately Gerry Wolstenholme was away this Saturday and so there will be no Match report or photographs.

On a glorious sunny day Morecambe had an easy win against Chorley whilst nearest challengers Darwen and Netherfield both lost

At Woodhill Lane Chorley were put in to bat and were bowled out for 74, John Ratledge 11 and Sam Sweeney 10 were the only batsman to reach double figures. Morecambe's Professional Garnett Kruger took 6-25 and Gareth Pedder 4-22. Morecambe took only 14 overs to knock off the runs.

At Stanley Park Blackpool were put in to bat and made 185 for 7 in their 50 overs, Luis Reece top scorer with 42 followed by captain Paul Danson with 40 not out and 39 from David Newton. Peter Lawson 2-48, Professional Dirk Nannes 2-36 and Marc Hadwin shared the wickets. In reply Netherfield could only manage 142 runs, Graeme Dodds topscoring with 32, Grahame Clarke 28, Chris Parry 27 and Craig Walmsley 18 making double figures. Blackpool professional Justin Kreusch finnished with 3-48 ably backed up by Luis Reece 2-33 and Richard Gleeson 2- 17

Fleetwood elected to bat at Birch Hall and made 154, James Ellis 41, Michael clinning 33 and professional Paul Harris 28 the main scorers. Keith Semple 3-25, Andrew Mercer 2-26, Andrew Cook 2-40 and Neil Cordingley 2-46 the Darwen wicket takers. Darwen were going well but then collapsed and finnished 2 runs short.Keith Semple scored 62 with Atif Ashraf and Gareth Cordingley both out for 21. Zac Taylor was the Darwen destroyer taking 5-30 with David Fish 2-29 and Paul Harris 2-41 in support.

Barrow had their first win of the season by bowling out Leyland and Farington for 180. Professional Adam Parker top scored with 37 with support from Chris Parkinson 35 and captain Brian Tennant 31, Wayne Platts took 4-35 with pro Ahmed Alma 2-57 off 21 overs .Openers Stuart Knox and Jonathan Miles gave Barrow the good start they required, Knox made 76 and Miles 34, Amla 35 and Iain Kermode 21 not out steered Barrow to victory.

Leyland Motors made a record score against Kendal at Sandy Lane, they made 275-3 in their 50 overs, Professional Ameer Khan hitting an unbeaten century 101, Andrew Makinson 63 not out, Peter Cummimgs 49 and Karl Cross 40 making it a good day for the motormen.Captain Kabir Khan 44 and Ikram Ullah 29 their hightest scoring Kendal batsmen. David Makinson 5-53 making it a good day for the Makinson family, Ameer Khan followed up his century with bowling figures of 4-45

Carnforth invited Preston to bat at West Cliff and bowled them out for 218 in 48.2 overs. Pip McDonald 64 and Sajid Patel 41 put on 114 in 20 overs, Lukman Vahaluwala 33 and Manuf Bavla 30 their other main scorers. Robert Horsfall 3-8 and Omari Banks 2-47 the wicket takers for Carnforth. Atiq Uz Zaman again was Carnforth's leading run maker with 70 with good contributions from Pro Omari Banks 51 and Lyndell Richardson 44. Lukman Vahaluwala taking 3 Carnforth wickets for 63

St Annes put Lancaster in to bat at Vernon Road and reached 191-7 after 50 overs. Captain Tim Barry top scored with 64 with pro Jannisar Khan 60 and an unbeaten 22 from David Heywood. St Annes pro Adam Griffith had 3-52 and Michael Baer 2-47. Openers Adrian Darlington and Ian Austin got St Annes off to a flying start with an opening partnership of 124.Austin made 68, Darlington 64 with Duncan Whalley 31 not out and Stephen Twist 27 not out steering St Annes to an eight wicket victory

Robin Adams of Barrow was the 2nd Division top scorer of the day 87.
