Bank Holiday Monday's fixtures were well and truly ruined by the Clerk of the Weather who decreed that a fine start would degenerate into a showery, nay pouring rain, finish. And it came to pass, so all of the games were washed out without much play and all teams in the First Division took four points.
One Second Division game produced a more decisive result in that Darwen took six points to Leyland's two as the home side made 147-6 and Leyland replied, before the inevitable rain, with 41-5.
