ALL TIME LEAGUE RECORDS

The Northern Cricket League was formed following a meeting between eleven clubs at a Whalley Hotel on 10 November 1951 and commenced in the 1952 season. Nine of the founding clubs were formerly members of the Ribblesdale League while Kendal and Furness were former members of the North Lancashire League.

Of the founding clubs, Blackpool, Chorley, Darwen, Fleetwood, Kendal, Lancaster, Leyland, Morecambe and St Annes have enjoyed unbroken service with the league. Furness left after the 1958 season to re-join the North Lancashire League. They were replaced by Netherfield, former members of the North Lancashire League.

Leyland Motors resigned in 2006, merging with Leyland after losing their ground. Preston joined from the Liverpool Competition in 1953 while recent newcomers have been Barrow (2004) and Carnforth (2006), both former members of the North Lancashire League.

Lancashire Colts entered the League Division One in 2010, playing each member club once all away from home with the points couting in the league table. They resingned from the League in 2014

Carnforth resigned from the League in 2012

Darwen resigned from the League in 2016

In 2018 the League became partners with the Smalley Palace Shield with relegation of the bottom two Northern League clubs to be replaced by the top two Palace Shield Premier League clubs.

Division Two was discontinued and the second teams were transferred to Smalley Palace Shield Division 1B.

In 2024 Settle join the League.

In 2025 the League was reorganised into two Divisions.

Division 1 comprising of the top 10 clubs at the end of season 2024. Divison 2 was created from the three relegated clubs from 2024 with the top six clubs from the Palace Shield Premier in 2024 plus Carlisle CC.
