Captain praises Darwen stalwart

Darwen's Christian Davies (known to everyone at the club as 'CD' set a new club 2nd XI bowling record last weekend.
Davies's haul of 6 for 71 against Lancaster took his seasonal league tally to 56 wickets (at an average of 12.77).
David Ainsworth, a regular spectator at Darwen 2nd XI games, previously held the record, taking 54 wickets at an average of 13.22 in 1985.
His figures were 273 overs 74 mdns 714 runs 54 wks 13.22 average.
Ainsworth was a medium pace opening bowler.
Davies, the 40-year-old slow medium pace swing bowler has taken 5 wickets in an innings on five occasions this season, his best haul 7 for 47 against Leyland.
Last season Davies took 45 wickets at 13.09.
Darwen 2nd XI captain Gary Jackson said: "Chris played at the club as a junior, had a few years off, then returned to the club as a third team bowler but broke through to the seconds around the year 2000.
From then until the end of 2007 his second division league figures read 1262 overs 293 mdns 3818 runs 244 wks 15.65 average.
"He is now in fourth place of all time Darwen second team wicket takers and is 32 behind the third placed David Ainsworth.
"He plays a vital part in the running of Darwen Cricket Club, taking the U/15's and U/17's as well as being the chairman of the selection committee."
