The Latham Baxendale Twenty20 Cup

Kendal v Barrow

By Michael Latham

McMillan leads Kendal's victory charge

Kendal captain Ross McMillan hit 78 off 53 balls

Kendal closed their Twenty20 campaign with a six wickets win over 2008 Cup winners Barrow at Shap Road. Kendal skipper and professional Ross McMillan lit up an overcast evening with a sparkling 78 off only 53 balls as his side chased down their 119 target with 3.3 overs to spare.

McMillan peppered the Whinfell Centre adjoining the ground as he hit six sixes and four fours, sharing a second wicket stand of 89 in 10 overs with Terry Hunte (20).
McMillan was finally caught by Pasan Wanasinghe off Daryl Wearing with the scores level and Nick Lewthwaite was then bowled by Wanasinghe before Gary Baker hit the winning run.

Lancaster City footballer Guy Heffernan injected much needed impetus into Barrow's innings with an unbeaten 29 off 26 balls and with Wearing hitting 23 off 16 balls Barrow at least managed a competitive total after earlier struggling on a slow-paced pitch.

Kendal's Jack White bowls to Barrow pro Pasan Wanasinghe

Jack White grabbed the vital wicket of Wanasinghe and Liam Livingstone hit 25 before becoming one of Lewthwaite's three victims in his spell of three for 14. Cumberland county off-spinner Chris Miller took two for 13.

Chris Miller catches Chris D'Leny off his own bowling

Mark Phillips collected a nasty bump on the leg after attempting a catch off his own bowling and was forced out of the attack but is expected to be fit for Kendal's league trip to Preston on Saturday.
