Mashimbyi in the runs again
Morecambe pro Mandla Mashimbyi, is fast earning the reputation as one of the league's most destructive batsmen.
After inspiring his side to a Furness Building Society Cup win at Leyland on Sunday, Mashimbyi hit an unbeaten 70 off 36 balls, including five fours and six sixes to spearhead a 21 runs win over Lancaster at Woodhill Lane.
Morecambe recovered from losing three quick wickets to post 141 for 4 thanks to their South African professional's heroics, Charles Boucher making 25 and Phil Dennison an unbeaten 30.
Michael Stevens led the Lancaster reply with 56 off 38 balls before he was caught by Graeme Cassidy off Morecambe captain Tommy Clough.
Clough claimed two for 21 as Lancaster closed on 120 for 5.
The sides meet again at Lune Road on Friday when a Morecambe victory would ensure their place at finals day.
