Carnforth made progress in the Cumbria Cup with a hard-earned five wickets win at Edenside against North Lancashire & Cumbria Division Two leaders Carlisle.
The home side won the toss and batted on a beautiful, hot afternoon at their splendidly appointed ground just north of the city on the banks of the River Eden.
They struggled against an accurate Carnforth bowling attack to 128 for 8 in their 40 overs.
Sri Lankan professional Saliya Saman made 39 before he was superbly caught by Mark Bradley in the covers off his son, Lewis Bradley.
Thereafter Carlisle depended on their captain John Davies to set a competitive total on a slow-paced pitch. Davies went on make an unbeaten 40.
Lewis Bradley, Warren Quinn and Rob Parker each took two wickets for Carnforth.

In reply Ryan Nelson was in superb form for the visitors and steered his side to the verge of their target with a fine innings of 59. But with wickets falling around him Carnforth would have been in trouble but for Nelson's application.
When Nelson was fifth man out, Carnforth still had work to do as they still required a further 30 runs for victory.
But Warren Quinn and professional Gareth Pedder steered Carnforth home without further loss with 5.2 overs in hand.

Netherfield edge home at Stanley Park
In the Barclays Wealth LCB Knock-Out competition Netherfield enjoyed a thrilling three wickets win over Blackpool at a sun-kissed Stanley Park.
Blackpool recovered from the wreckage of being 5 for 4 to post a challenging 136 for 7 in their 45 overs.
Scott Clement and Glen Batticcotto did the early damage for Netherfield each taking two wickets. But skipper Paul Danson and emerging all rounder Andy Hogarth provided the main resistance with a fighting unbroken eighth wicket stand of 76.
Danson finished 51 not out and Hogarth 38 not out.
In reply Netherfield were in trouble at 107 for 7 when pro Batticciotto was bowled by Blackpool pro Saj Weerakoon for 46, with Andy Furniss taking four for 26 in his nine overs,
But Chris Miller stood firm and steered Netherfield past their target without further loss in partnership with Clement.
Miller was 35 not out as Netherfield got home with 5.3 overs to spare, Clement 8 not out.
