FURNESS BUILDING SOCIETY ( INCOPORATING 3D SPORTS) NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE

20/20

Leyland v Chorley

By Michael Latham

Thrilling derby win for Leyland

Tom Foster was Leyland's T20 hero

Leyland began their Furness Building Society NPCL Twenty 20 campaign with a thrilling ten runs victory over neighbours Chorley at Fox Lane.

At Fox Lane Leyland were indebted to 16-year-old Tom Foster for posting a competitive total. Foster batted superbly to hit 44 off 37 balls including four fours and two sixes and steer his side beyond the century mark.
Andrew Harty (3 for 24) and Rex Purnell (3 for 23) were Chorley's best bowlers.

Chris Hartley made 67 for Chorley in vain

Australian professional Chris Hartley, opening the innings, anchored the Chorley reply until he was bowled by David Makinson for 67 in the last over. Hartley hit nine fours and one six off 56 balls.
But only Ian Oakes and skipper Jack Catterall who both made 11 were the other Chorley players to reach double figures.
Leyland professional Ameer Khan (3 for 10) and Andrew Makinson (2 for 5) were their side's best bowlers.

Chris Hartley survives a stumping appeal at Fox Lane

Leyland's Tom Foster and Chorley's wicket-keeping pro Chris Hartley were the game's top performers
