Holders begin with victory
Barrow began the defence of their Twenty20 title with an eight wickets victory over Kendal at Ernest Pass
Daryl Wearing's side got the better of the weather conditions as rain interrupted the Kendal innings after six overs had been bowled. When play resumed after a 40-minutes delay the game was reduced to one of 15 overs-per-side.
Terry Hunte top scored with 35 off 36 balls and Paul Dodds hit 26 off 17 balls with Barrow skipper Wearing returning three for 11 off his three overs.
Despite losing Ian Allington for 2 and Wearing for 21 Barrow cruised to their target with ten balls to spare. Professional Pasan Wanasinghe hit an undefeated 42 while wicket-keeper Chris D'Leny dominated an unbroken third wicket stand of 48, finishing 34 not out.
