The remaining two places on T20 finals day remained unresolved after a dramatic evening of action on Thursday in the two northern groups. Chorley and hosts Blackpool have already qualified.

In the local derby at Woodhill Lane Morecambe defeated neighbours Lancaster by six wickets in a low scoring game after the visitors were bowled out for 90.

In North 2 group Morecambe have won all three group games and have six points with Lancaster second on four points. Carnforth lost all four of their group games. In the final game on Friday week (25 July) Lancaster are at home to Morecambe and could still qualify for the finals day on a superior run rate if they win that game. Lancaster have scored 436 runs in 57.5 overs at a run rate of 7.54 while Morecambe have scored 315 runs in 49.1 overs at a run rate of 6.41.

At Woodhill Lane Lancaster reached 48 without loss thanks to a fine opening stand between Jamie Heywood and stand-in skipper Mike Stevens before losing ten wickets for the addition of only 42 runs.

Morecambe pro Bruce Martin, captain Tommy Clough and Gareth Pedder each took three wickets but the star of the show was Lewis Edge who continued his outstanding wicket-keeping form by claiming four stumpings.

Phil Thornton led the Morecambe reply, hitting three sixes in his innings of 39 and taking 24 off the seventh over bowled by Michael Walling (6642.6).

Lancaster, despite lacking opening bowler Daniel Milligan who had been called up for the Lancashire 2nd XI squad in action against Leicestershire at Hinckley, fought hard in the field but Vishal Goyal and Gareth Pedder saw Morecambe home with 13 balls to spare. Liam Moffat took 2 for 17.
