Blackpool qualify for finals day
Blackpool qualified for the T20 finals day by virtue of winning the South 1 group courtesy of a seven wicket win at Fleetwood on Thursday evening.
Tight bowling and fielding by Paul Danson's side restricted Fleetwood to a disappointing total of 93 for 8 in their 20 overs.
Tom Wilson was top scorer with 22 and skipper Wayne Clarke (16) and wicket-keeper Lee Jones (19 not out) were the other main contributors.
Richard Gleeson ripped out the Fleetwood openers early on and finished with 3 for 15 with pro Saj Weerakoon taking 2 for 14.
In reply Blackpool were in trouble at 20 for 3 after losing Weerakoon, Craig Outram and Michael Moore in quick succession.
But skipper Danson joined opener Luis Reece in a match-winning, unbroken stand of 76 to see the visitors home with three overs to spare.
Reece finished 45 not out and Danson was unbeaten on 33.
As an added bonus Blackpool will host the semi-finals and final of the competition at a date to be decided at Stanley Park after the draw for venue was made at a recent NPCL committee meeting.
