Morecambe opener Vishal Goyal cuts Preston pro Bilal Asad
|
Morecambe and Preston faced a frustrating wash-out in the Furness Building Society Cup Final on Sunday.
Play was abandoned at Woodhill Lane shortly after 3pm and the two teams will try again next Sunday, 7 September (1pm).
A new match will start and the details from this game will be expunged.
If no play is possible a further attempt to stage the game will be made on Sunday 14 September (1pm).
Despite the wet and gloomy conditions play did commence at 2-15pm with the game restricted to one of 33 overs per side.
Preston captain Glenn Johnstone won the toss and invited Morecambe to bat.
Morecambe had reached 38 for 2 in the 12th over, losing the wickets of Mark Woodhead (caught behind by Charlie Williams off Bilal Asad) and Phil Thornton (bowled by Joe Davies) when further rain drove the players from the field.
After an early tea and with no let-up in the rain, the decision was taken to abandon the game.
