Chairman's Report 2014
As last reason I have to begin my report on an extremely sad note.
In June 2014 we once again sadly lost another stalwart of the League when David Smalley sadly and surprisingly passed away.
David was known to many in the League in his roles as Secretary of Leyland Motors CC, Leyland CC and as a former Secretary of the League itself. I am sure that David will be remembered and missed by all who knew him and many who worked with him
Returning to the report on the League I am very pleased to announce that all three of our main sponsors i.e. Chorley Building Society, Readers Cricket Balls and TWP Wealth Ltd have all agreed to continue with thier sponsorship for the 2015 season and I thank them all very much indeed
Season 2014 once again saw the invovlement of the Lancashire Colts in the League and winning the Readers Cup was of course a tremendous achievement on their part.
But with complications in attempting to find settled teams on a reguular basis both for themselves and the integrity of the League they have decided not to compete any further.
To involve the Colts initially was in my opinion a good progressive move by both our League and the LCB and they will be missed
Therefore we revert once again to thirteen clubs but we will be constantly on the lookout to add more clubs to the League
Due to ground problems some of our clubs had difficulty completing their fixtures last season on their home grounds and other clubs willingly came to their rescue by allowing use of their grounds which just proves the camaraderie that exists within the League and I truly thank you for all that
Season 2014 The Division One title was won by Blackpool CC and I congratulate them on their achievement , with Runners Up Leyland CC
The Division Two title was won by Leyland CC who also completed the double by winning the Second Division Readers Cup and I congratulate them on achieving this double success
The TWP Wealth Ltd Twenty/20 Cometition was won by Netherfield CC on an exciting day at Darwen CC and my congratulations go to them also
Finally I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all our Umpires for their dedicated, sterling work that they do week in week out officiating matches
Also my sincere thanks to go to all the people who work behind the scenes at our Clubs, Catering Lades, Bar staff, Groundsmen etc. and all other volunteers who give up their time on match days helping to keep our clubs ticking over.
Thank you,
Norman Poole, Chairman
