Blackpool, Morecambe and Darwen progressed through to the Readers Cup semi-finals in Division One while Chorley, St Annes, Barrow and Lancaster earned last four spots in Division Two as holders Leyland crashed out.

Paul Danson's Blackpool side will travel to Birch Hall to face Darwen in an intriguing tie after they defeated Barrow at Stanley Park by 33 runs.
John Mounsey's high-class 64 off 92 balls and Andy Furniss's increasingly fluent 62 off 69 balls provided the backbone of Blackpool's 190 for 6.

Blackpool's teenaged opening bowler Mike Tidmas then took a match-winning three for 16 off 7 overs, accounting for Jon Miles, caught behind by Rob Sissons, Barrow pro Pasan Wanasinghe bowled and Chris D'Leny caught at midwicket by Alex Smith.
With Richard Gleeson pinning Greg Platten leg before for 0 Barrow's innings was in tatters at 35 for 4.

Darren Clark (29) and Graham Dawson (27) battled hard but Barrow looked well out of things at 100 for 7. But Iain Kermode made a battling 36 not out off 46 balls and skipper Daryl Wearing 23 off 18 balls before Danson came into the attack to take the wickets of Wearing and Rhys Studt. Sissons ran out last man Gary Collins as Barrow were dismissed for 157.

Darwen's consistent professional Mohammad Zaman Khan was in the runs again, making 70 off 94 balls as Darwen reached 188 for 4 at Shap Road. But for once he was upstaged as Neil Cordingley took the batting honours with a superb unbeaten 95 off 100 balls, the pair sharing a third wicket stand of 119 after Darwen had lost two quick wickets.

Kendal slumped to 38 for 4 in reply but Terry Hunte battled hard, making 53 off 59 balls before he was caught behind off Nathan Jackson by Jordan Clarke. Nick Phillips (29) and Chris Miller (24) provided more resistance but Neil Cordingley completed a fine all round game with three for 26 as Kendal fell seven runs short.

Ryan Smith celebrated his 18th birthday next Wednesday with a fine display in Morecambe's 14 runs derby win over Lancaster at Lune Road. Smith helped rescue Morecambe from 77 for 4, Chris Williams making 44 and went on to reach 55 not out as the visitors posted 196 for 5, Phil Dennison providing vital late impetus with an unbeaten 37.
Smith then captured the wickets of Jamie Heywood (24) and pro Roy Silva (47) after Lancaster reached 78 for 1 in reply and went on to take three for 36, wrapping up the game by bowling Craig Atkinson for 41 as the home side were bowled out for 182.
Off-spinner Tommy Clough played a captain's role by taking three for 28.
Morecambe will play the winners of next week's delayed quarter-final between Fleetwood and Leyland.

In Division Two Lancaster rattled up the day's highest total, 249 for 9 as they defeated Morecambe by 38 runs at Woodhill Lane. Opener Danny Welbourne hit 70 and Tom Deakin 74. Morecambe closed on 211 for 7 despite 69 from opener Ian Izzat, 47 from Barrie Smith and an unbeaten 38 from deputy captain Graeme Cassidy.

Chorley openers Stu Naden (59 off 64 balls) and Rowan Mitcham (74 off 72 balls) posted 140 for the opening wicket as they beat Darwen by six wickets at Birch Hall. Skipper Gary Jackson top-scored with 50 off 63 balls in his side's 174 for 9 with Graham Ainslie making 35 not out.

Barrow's new recruit L Mendis was the hero of his side's victory over Blackpool in a low-scoring game at Ernest Pass. Mendis hit an unbeaten 59 off 94 balls in his side's 132 for 9. Paul Riley then took five for 18 as Blackpool were routed for 64 in replay.

The shock of the day was at Fox Lane where holders Leyland lost to St Annes by four wickets. Greg Whitehead was the St Annes' hero with a brilliant undefeated 75 after coming in at number 7 with his side 67 for 5 chasing Leyland's 191 for 7. Earlier Wes Royle hit 66 for Leyland, sharing in an opening stand of 95 with Daniel Hall (42).
