FURNESS BUILDING SOCIETY ( INCOPORATING 3D SPORTS) NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE

20/20

Blackpool v Preston

By Michael Latham

Calculators out to decide finalists

Blackpool kept alive their hopes of qualifying after defeating Preston by four runs in a thrilling game at Stanley Park.

Richard Gleeson bowled Javaid Hussain with the final ball of the game as Preston fell just short despite Sajid Patel's 45 off 36 balls and Adam Parker's 36 off 30 balls.
Alex Smith was Blackpool's man of the match.
The promising teenaged all rounder hit an unbeaten 43 off 40 balls in Blackpool's 145 for 7 and then took three for 18. Professional Saj Weerakoon weighed in with three for 24.

This group now rests upon Fleetwood's game with Preston on Tuesday 30 June. If Fleetwood win they qualify for finals day. If Preston win, the group will be decided on run-rate. Currently Preston have the best run-rate with 253 runs from 34 overs (7.44) followed by Fleetwood (274 from 39, 7.02) and Blackpool (372 from 55, 6.76).
